WHY MARRIAGE?

* Marriage is not only for satisfying sexual desire:
It is biblical that sexual desires can only be satisfied through marriage, but it is important to note that marriage was not ordained only to satisfy sexual desires. Sexual fulfillment is only part of the reasons why God instituted marriage. People with promiscuous sexual behaviour may have been counselled to get married in order to stop such act but strangely such people still continue to indulge in their promiscuity. What is required for such people is a change in behaviour through the help of the word of God and the Holy Spirit.

In the society, people of all race, colour and religious background have abused sexual activities in an attempt to satisfy their sexual desires. Sex is only meant to be enjoyed by the partners within the confines of marriage. “... It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife and let each woman have     her own husband.” (1 Corinthians 7:1, 2. NKJV ).

In Africa, it is generally believed that the office of the woman is the kitchen, but that does not necessarily mean that man should get married to a woman in order to Marriage is not a means of getting a cook:
provide for himself a cook. Therefore, a wife should not be treated as a cook, since marriage is not a means of getting a cook. It is true that before he got married, he used to go to the kitchen to prepare him food for himself. But on getting married he relinquishes the responsibility to the spouse. However, to live in peace, and harmony with the spouse, a husband can sometimes do the cooking or visit the kitchen as time permits. Where there is love and understanding, any of the spouses can do the cooking cheerfully, without complaining. This act if cultivated by, especially the man, has the tendency to promote tolerance and good relationship.
